5 Intercultural Competencies
We have developed a model to describe 'intercultural competence' in detail.
The individual attitudes and skills in each of the 5 competence areas are of varying importance depending on the situation and tasks or challenges.
Transfer and Culture Know-how
Reflection and Learning
Adjustment and Integration
Communication and Contact
Stability and Resilience
Expats often need many of the competencies from the areas of adjustment and resilience. They are often chosen for their assignments as they are trusted to achieve a good transfer of knowledge. It is often underestimated how important that is also during the re-entry phase after a relocation. Expats and inpats, project managers, leaders of international other otherwise mixed teams, leaders and everyone often working interculturally – they all need distinct skills of communication.
In our training or coaching we concentrate on the most important areas of competencies depending on the participants' needs.
